Foelgastell
Pub and restaurant – serves lunch and dinner. Homemade food, with Thursday evening special fish night.
Llanddarog
The White Heart – Pub and restaurant. Serves homemade food and has a micro-brewery. They do particularly good pies here. It is not ‘fine dining’, but definitely one of our favourites. We have always had good food there and find the people friendly.
The Butchers Arms pub and restaurant
This restaurant is very popular with local people. It can get very busy so we suggest you book a table.
Cross Hands
Dwbis Indian Restaurant – 9 Carmarthen Rd, Cross Hands, Llanelli SA14 6SP Phone: 01269 831608
Eat in and take-away, a regular haunt of ours and very popular with the locals. Excellent food and value which makes it very popular. One of our favourites.
Capel Dowi
Y Polin – 01267 290000
This is one of our absolute favourite places. We particularly recommend the Sunday lunch but if you are going we suggest you miss breakfast! It has a very good reputation locally and has had reviews in the national press so you do need to book. If you want to go there head for the Botanic gardens and carry on towards Nantgaredig and it is on the left hand side. Voted one of the top 100 in the UK so would recommend you book
Llanarthne
Wrights Food Emporium – Golden Grove Arms, Llanarthne SA32 8JU
A must! They do fabulous food in this café and have a shop too. Unless it is one of their “Wrights Special” nights, (check their web site), you can’t book and it does get busy at lunch time. We always take our visitors here and the owner is also called Maryann so obviously it has to be a good place
The refillable wine and cider bottle is a great idea and they also do take away pies ready to pop in the oven. They are listed in the Waitrose Good Food Guide for good reason and another in the top 100 restaurants in the UK.
Llandybie
Valens – We were told about this place by a guest and are very grateful to them. Fabulous food and very reasonably priced. The restaurant is very small so booking might be an idea.
Carmarthen
Cafe at Number 4 – Queen Street Carmarthen. Open Thursdays to Saturdays 6 – 9 pm. No Licence so take your own wine or whatever. The food is superb, and therefore I would definately book.
Diabalos on the Quay -Gastro pub and we have always had a good meal here. In fine weather you can sit outside by the river.
The Warren – Mansel Street 01267 236079. Good food and lovely welcoming atmosphere. They have specials on a Thursday night, quiz, open mic and street food so worth looking at the website if you fancy some entertainment with your food. Also a very good lunch stop if you are shopping in Carmarthen. Not open Mondays or Sunday evenings
Ginger – 44 King Street, modern Indian. A new find for us and a hit. Would recommend booking as it is very popular 01267 223323
The Cottage Inn between Llandeilo and Carmarthen, you can’t miss it as it is very pink. The food here is good and very generous.
Llandeilo
Gin Haus Deli – www.ginhaus.co.uk
Another really lovely café, charcuterie and shop. Not surprisingly it has a very wide range of gins and they do a fabulous anti-pasti / tapas. Great place for lunch and then a potter round Llandeilo. Dogs are welcome here.
Heavenly – www.heavenlychoc.co.uk
Does what it says on the tin. Chocolate and ice-cream to die for, but don’t take my word for it. You can eat the ice-cream while window shopping in Llandelio – perfect mix.
Llanelli
Sosban – Another award winning restaurant in an iconic building on Llanelli’s North Dock. They have specials nights with music so worth looking at the website and again I would book.
Bahn Mai Thai – authentic Thai which one of our guests found and we love it. Excellent food and the service is delightful 19 Station Rd, Llanelli SA15 1AW 01554 780150
