Perfect place for a relaxing hideaway

As ever, Mary-Ann and Mike were the perfect hosts. From booking to departure, nothing was an issue. The cottage was immaculate, the welcome warm and everything was just brilliant! This was my third visit to Pen Y Garn and it was just lovely to watch the birds in the wonderful garden, read my book and reach for a big mug of tea! Local drives and walks – even in March – were well worth wrapping up for, knowing that one could light a delightful wood-burner when you got home. Thank you again for making me feel so welcome – I’m sure I’ll be back again and again!

A wonderful self contained cottage, spotlessly clean and with everything you could need for a great stay

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Pen Y Garn. What a wonderful place, we were greeted by the owners and shown around. Beautifully decorated and fitted with all new appliances and equipment the cottage was spotlessly clean and tidy. The owner had left us fresh baked bread and scones and very attentive if we needed any help with anything. I would not hesitate to recommend this property for a stay in South Wales, lots of wildlife, and near enough to lots of interesting places to visit. We will definitely be back again-excellent!

Idyllic cottage, perfect hosts, stunning grounds

In short, this was a perfect stay away from home. Such friendly, welcoming hosts with a quaint and clean cottage situated in the most stunning of grounds. We really couldn’t have asked for more! The cottage had all the amenities you could ask for and was clean and well presented. The beds were incredibly comfy with immaculate bedding. Mary-Ann has worked hard to provide lots of information on the local area and attractions and the cottage features lots of her photography for inspiration. We were warmly welcomed with a loaf of fresh bread, home made jam and Welsh cakes (which my twins loved so much I’ve had to learn to make them myself!). We were truly blessed by the weather during our short stay here, so took every opportunity to enjoy the stunning garden – we enjoyed family games at the large table, breakfast at the smaller garden table amongst the flurry of butterflies or just relaxed in the sun on the picnic blanket by the pond… it was our own little bit of paradise! Thank you so much for welcoming us in to your home, we hope to visit again soon and would highly recommend to anyone!

The three W’s Warm, Welcoming and Wonderful – Pen Y Garn is a gem in a delightful setting.
We were welcomed by Mary-Ann who is lovely, she took the time to show us around the cottage and explain how things worked and where everything was located. We arrived to fresh home baked bread, home made jam, butter and milk in the fridge and a log fire to settle us in. The cottage is wonderful with lots of space and every detail has been thought about. From fresh flowers to a guide on the birds visiting the garden each morning nothing has been missed. We would recommend this cottage to anyone looking to visit the area and will return as soon as we can.

What a superb cottage, such attention to detail, including some welcoming freshly baked Welsh cakes and bread. The other great thing about the cottage is that it’s superbly located to great places to visit. Highly recommend!

Beautiful Pen Y Garn

We had a fabulous short break to Pen Y Garn, gorgeous cottage with lovely fire and places to explore, the cottage was just perfect, clean and tidy and had everything we needed. Mary-Ann was delightful and was on-site to assist if needed 🙂 Would love to re visit in the summer to take full advantage of exploring outside and to sit on the patio with a vino!
I would definitely recommend a stay here!

Lovely location to explore South Wales: Left on Feb 22, 2016 for a stay in Feb 2016

On arrival we were greeted by Mary Ann who had made us fresh bread and welshcakes, both of which were delicious!! The cottage its self is beautiful, more than enough room for four adults.. It is well equipped with everything you could need! The beds are very comfortable and the bedrooms modern. Towels were large and fluffy. Both the cottage and the grounds were well kept and the views from the cottage were stunning! Birds dancing/rabbits playing!! Local shop 5 minutes away, although the town centre is only a 10 minute drive. Some of the photos don’t do justice to how beautiful it actually is – both inside and out.. We all had a wonderful time and I simply cannot say enough good things!!
Pen Y Garn cottage was delightful. It had everything our family needed. The cottage was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. We were welcomed with a tray of Welsh cakes and freshly baked bread. We couldn’t have asked for a better position to explore Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire. It would have been ideal too for the Gower too but we ran out of time. A return visit is definitely on the cards. We’d recommend a visit to Llansteffan, very picturesque and a birthday lunch at Coast in Saundersfoot was a treat.

We had a very nice time at Pen Y Garn. The cottage is lovely, very well and thoughtfully equipped. The woodburner worked a treat and made us feel so cosy on these cold January evenings. There was plenty of information provided about the area, and many useful tips were given by the lovely Mary-Ann. There is really no shortage of interesting places to see nearby. The grounds and the garden are intriguing, and we can’t wait to come back in the summer to explore more.

Pen Y Garn Cottage and our host, Mary-Ann set a standard that will be hard to meet as we travel around the UK and Ireland. From the personal greeting as we arrived to the fresh loaf of bread and Welsh biscuits awaiting us on the counter, Mary-Ann could not have made us feel more welcome. The cottage and its amenities are first class. The garden that surrounds it reflects the passion that Mary-Ann seems to have for life. Pen y Garn is but a short drive to the National Botanic Garden of Wales and offers the ability to take lovely walks down country lanes.

Friends recommended this place to us and they were quite correct.  It is quite delightful,very cosy with a wonderful wood burner and deeply comfortable bed.  Perfect!
